Server operations advisory

Your servers are not the problem. Your operating model is.

MMRB Consulting is an independent IT consultancy for server operations and infrastructure management. We assess how operations actually run, then design the roadmap, framework and controls that make reliability repeatable — and hand the plan to your team.

The estate as it runs

The environment we are usually called into

Estates rarely arrive documented. A rack was added here, a monitoring tool bought there, and one process still lives in the head of whoever is on call. The assessment starts by seeing the estate as it actually operates.

Photos on this site are illustrative. We do not publish client environments.

We advise.

Independent guidance on server operations, infrastructure management and technical strategy. We do not resell tooling, and we take no commission from vendors.

We structure.

Assessments, phased roadmaps, operating models and standardised processes — written so your engineers can run them without us in the room.

We hand over.

Consulting that ends with your team owning the plan, not with a consultant holding the keys.

Scope of our advice

What we do not do

We do not operate your servers, resell licences, or promise availability and recovery figures. MMRB Consulting advises; implementation and day-to-day operations stay with your team or your delivery partners.

  • No reselling of hardware, licences or managed services
  • No availability, uptime or recovery-time guarantees
  • No hands-on operation of your estate on our side
  • No certifications or partnerships claimed on this site

Consulting services

Five areas of advice

Operations Maturity Assessment

We review your server operations — processes, team capabilities and tooling — to identify gaps and bottlenecks.

Improvement Roadmap Planning

Phased roadmaps that guide a team from reactive firefighting towards proactive and automated operations.

Operations Framework Design

Team structures and standardised processes: change management, monitoring and alert handling, incident response and capacity planning.

Technical Strategy and Optimisation

Advice on monitoring and alerting strategy, automation of repetitive tasks, and performance and capacity planning.

Continuity and Risk Control

Consulting on backup and disaster recovery strategy, plus server-level security and compliance: baseline configuration, vulnerability priorities and access control.

Advice is only worth having if it is specific to your environment.

How we engage

Four steps, in this order

  1. 01

    Interviews and document review

We talk to the people who run the estate and read what already exists: runbooks, alert rules, change records, access reviews.

  2. 02

    Gap diagnosis

Findings are sorted by operational impact and effort — not by how easy they are to put in a slide.

  3. 03

    Roadmap and priorities

A phased plan with owners, sequence and dependencies, sized against the team you actually have.

  4. 04

    Review and handover

We walk your team through the findings and the plan, adjust it with them, and hand it over.

Typical starting points

Situations we are usually brought into

Reactive by default

Incidents are handled by whoever is on call, and each one is solved differently depending on who picked it up.

Alerts without ownership

Monitoring produces volume, but nobody has agreed which alerts are actionable, who owns them, or how they are escalated.

Evidence reconstructed late

Change and access are managed informally, so evidence for an audit or an internal review is rebuilt after the fact.

What you take away

Consulting deliverables

Every engagement produces written material your team can act on — not a presentation that goes stale in a fortnight.

  • Operations assessment findings and gap register
  • Phased improvement roadmap with priorities
  • Operating model and standardised process definitions
  • Monitoring and alerting strategy
  • Continuity, backup and recovery strategy advice
  • Access control and baseline configuration priorities

Commercial

Scope first, then a price

We confirm the scope of an assessment and the consultant time it needs before any work starts. Fees are quoted on request, once that scope is agreed. Diagnosis, roadmap and framework design are agreed in stages, so you can stop between them.

We do not promise availability targets, recovery times or operational outcomes. Engagements are quoted in euro; invoicing and payment terms are confirmed with the proposal.
